Driver Rolls SUV, Hits School Bus: Manhattan PD

The crash happened in Manhattan at Smith and Nelson roads Thursday morning.

MANHATTAN, IL — There were no children aboard a school bus that was involved in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning, Manhattan police said.

A woman, 36, of Manhattan was headed eastbound on Smith Road at 8:30 a.m. when she drove partially up onto a utility trailer on the roadway, causing her Jeep to roll over, coming to rest when it struck the front of the school bus, Manhattan police said. The bus was headed westbound on Smith Road at the time of the crash.

The driver of the SUV was uninjured. The driver of the school bus, also a Manhattan woman, was taken to a nearby hospital.
