Manhattan Labor Day Party Set For Sept. 4

The event will include a whole day of activities, music, fireworks and more.

MANHATTAN, IL —The Village of Manhattan is scheduled to host its second annual Labor Day Party Sept. 4 at Round Barn Farm, 24115 U.S. Route 52, according to a news release from the Village.

Festivities will kick off early with a coed volleyball tournament at 11 a.m. Participants must register by Aug. 31. The registration form can be downloaded by following this link.

Got a knack for tossing bean bags? Then you might want to join in on the bean bag tournament at 3 p.m. for bragging rights in the village. Registration for the bean bag tournament is open, and same day registration will also be accepted. Download the registration form by following this link.

After the tournaments, attendees can stick around for a full schedule of fun, games, music and entertainment running from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Highlights include the ROTC Color Guard, a rock-climbing wall, magic shows, inflatables, face painter, DJ, and performances by the Manhattan Junior High School band and the Lincoln-Way West Madrigals.

The evening concludes with spectacular fireworks show at 8:30 p.m. at Manhattan Junior High School, 15606 Smith Road, and can also be viewed from the Round Barn Farm.

Continuing this year will be a Pet Station with pet contests for multiple categories for participants to enter and win. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. from several vendors, including:

  • Smokin’ Z’s BBQ
  • Ta Canijo Tacos
  • Cream Crunch
