Manhattan Man, 25, Arrested On Child Pornography Charges: Manhattan Police

The man had been under investigation since September 2024, police said.

MANHATTAN, IL — A 25-year-old Manhattan man was arrested Wednesday on child pornography charges following a lengthy investigation, police said.

Jacob Jarvis, of the 500 block of North Street, faces six counts of possession of child pornography, a felony charge, said Manhattan Police Chief Ryan Gulli.

In September 2024, Manhattan police assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received information from police in Hastings, Nebraska regarding a Manhattan resident who was downloading and sharing child pornography through an online mobile application, police said.

During an investigation, Jarvis was identified as the suspect and user of the mobile application.

In August 2025, Manhattan police executed a search warrant with the assistance of the Will County State's Attorney's Office. Police took possession of Jarvis's electronic devices, which police said contained evidence of child pornography.

Jarvis was taken into custody Nov. 12 and processed at the Manhattan Police Department. He was transferred to the Will County Jail to await a pre-trial detention hearing.
