Manhattan SD114 Accepting Bid Proposals For New Junior High

The deadline to submit bids is 11 a.m. Sept. 27.

MANHATTAN, IL — The Board of Education of Manhattan School District 114 is accepting bid proposals for the New Manhattan Junior High School, according to a news release from the school district.

Manhattan voters in June voted nearly 2:1 to approve a referendum that allows the school district to issue bonds up to $85 million for the creation of the fourth school in the village. There were 1,385 "yes" votes against 683 "no" votes.

Bid Period 1 consists of cast-in-place concrete, excavation, and utilities and related items for the new junior high school and site, according to the release.

All bids must be accompanied by a cashier’s check or bid bond of 10 percent of the amount of the base bid made payable to Manhattan School District 114.

Contractors shall guarantee their submitted bid proposal for a 90-day period from the date of bid opening.

The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond for 100 percent.

Contractor’s Qualifications Statement must be submitted at time of bid or already be on file with Pepper Construction. Compliance with Prevailing Wages for Will County and all equal employment practices is required.

A pre-bid site visit is scheduled for 8 a.m. Sept. 20 at the project site, 15414 W. Smith Road in Manhattan.

Sealed bids are due no later than 11 a.m. Sept. 27 at Manhattan School District 114 Office, 25632 S. Gougar Road in Manhattan, and shall be marked “SEALED BID, Attention Mr. Russel Ragon.”

Bids will only be accepted at the administrative office.

There will be a public bid opening immediately Sept. 27 deadline.
