Manhattan Village Hall Open As Cooling Center For Those In Need

Heat index values forecasted to be above 100 degrees Tuesday.

MANHATTAN, IL — The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from noon-7 p.m. Tuesday and noon-7 p.m. Wednesday, with temperatures feeling like close to 110 degrees with the heat index in some areas.

The Village of Manhattan will offer the Manhattan Community Meeting Room at Village Hall, 260 Market Place, as a cooling center for those that need an escape from the dangerous heat. Residents can call the Village Hall at 815-418-2100 to make arrangements to use the space.

Village Hall be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
