Memorial Gathering For Activist Charlie Kirk Planned In Manhattan Saturday

MANHATTAN, IL — A memorial gathering for conservative activist Charlie Kirk will take place in Manhattan Saturday, organizers shared on social media.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at 230 Wabash St., in the parking lot behind Midtown Bar and Grill.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot Sept. 10 during a speaking event at Utah Valley University. A 22-year-old Utah man has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Attendees of the gathering are encouraged to wear patriotic colors and come prepared for any inclement weather. Attendees are also encouraged to bring chairs.

People are asked to be respectful to all attending, and leave political views at home, organizers said. Manhattan police will be present to maintain order and ensure the safety of all attending.
