Minor Injuries, Driver Cited After 2-Car Crash At Smith, Cedar Roads

The accident happened Saturday morning before 9 a.m.

MANHATTAN, IL — Multiple people suffered minor injuries and a driver was cited after a two-car crash at Cedar and Smith roads Saturday morning.

The crash happened at 8:40 a.m., when a Toyota Tacoma westbound on Smith Road, was stopped at Cedar Road. A Kia Rio was northbound on Cedar Road. Manhattan police said the driver of the Toyota did not yield, and pulled in front of the Kia. The Kia struck the Toyota’s driver’s side door.

All three occupants of the Kia—Manhattan residents ages 59, 46, and 26—were taken to the hospital. Both vehicles were towed due to damage. The driver of the Toyota—a 60-year-old woman—was issued a citation for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to Manhattan Police Chief Jeff Wold.
