New Lenox Woman Pleads Guilty To Battery Outside Manhattan Bar, Gets Probation

MANHATTAN, IL — A New Lenox woman was sentenced to two years of conditional discharge, after pleading guilty to a lighter charge of misdemeanor battery following an incident outside a Manhattan bar, court records show.

Police were called Sept. 21, 2024 for a report of a battery outside Fritz's Saloon, 225 S. State St. Police learned that a female victim was "thrown to the ground by an unknown female who grabbed the back of her hair," according to police reports.

The attacker—later identified as Anna Morowczynski, 45, of New Lenox—fled prior to police arrival, and later surrendered to police. She was charged with aggravated battery on a public way.

On May 29, Morowczynski pleaded guilty to the downgraded charge of misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to two years of conditional discharge.

Morowczynski is also to have no contact with the victim, maintaining an order of protection set in place after the incident. She is not to consume alcohol, and must attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
