Public Safety Community Night, National Night Out Cancelled
The Manhattan Public Safety Community Night in Conjunction with National Night Out on July 31 is cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
MANHATTAN, IL — The Village of Manhattan Police Department announced Thursday that the Manhattan Public Safety Community Night in Conjunction with National Night Out scheduled for July 31 has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to a news release, the police department said the health and well-being of patrons, vendors and first responders is, and always will be, their main priority.
"The unwavering support from our community for the Manhattan Police Department, Manhattan Fire District, and Manhattan EMA has been strongly felt during these difficult times," the police department stated, in the news release.
Since 2009, hundreds of people have attended the event, which the department said offers many hands-on activities, demonstrations and a variety of apparatus displays from area emergency services and safety organizations.

"For many years, this event has showcased all aspects of public safety that is both educational and fun for all ages," the police department said, in the news release.

The police department also said they look forward to hosting the event in 2021.
