MANHATTAN, IL — A scarcity of crows may be on the horizon in Manhattan. That's because the Village's Scarecrows on Parade is set to return in October.

All Manhattan residents, organizations and businesses are invited to use their creativity, old clothing and art supplies to transform straw, wood and burlap into a whole host of characters that will be displayed on U.S. Route 52 between Oct. 17 and Oct 31.

As if building and displaying the best scarecrows in town isn't reward enough in itself, the Village will be awarding Visa gift card prizes for the ones voted best overall.
