West Nile Virus Detected In Mosquito Trap: Park District
Will County Health Department finds mosquito trap positive for virus at Round Barn Farm.
MANHATTAN, IL — The Will County Health Department has notified the Village of Manhattan Park District that a mosquito trap at Round Barn Farm tested positive for West Nile virus, according to a post on the Park District's Facebook page Monday.
The Park District was notified Friday by Will County Health Department, according to Park District Executive Director Jay Kelly. Will County Health Department was not immediately available for comment.
The Park District reminded residents to help prevent mosquito-borne illnesses by:

- Wearing long sleeves, pants, socks and shoes when outdoors, especially at dusk.
- Using insect repellent while mosquitoes are present.
- Preventing standing water from accumulating in residents' yards.
- Emptying and cleaning birdbaths, pet water bowls, gutters and plant pots regularly.
