Zoi served her community with not only outstanding delicacies, but nourishment for the heart and soul.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Zoi Tsaliangos, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Silver Cross Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 18, 1946, in Tripoli, Arkadias, Greece, the daughter of the late Dimitrios and Galatia (nee Paleologou) Kapsimalis.

Zoi is survived by her devoted children, Chris “Xristos” (Patricia) Tsaliangos of Joliet, and Maria (Dr. John) Jonihakis of Plainfield; four beloved grandchildren, Teresa (Jason) Eggman, Victoria (Danny) Dutkiewicz, and Zoi and Ari Jonihakis; two sweet great-grandchildren, Mia and Callie Eggman; sister, Eleni Veve, and brother, Kostas Kapsimalis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Tsaliangos; her parents; and brothers, Athanasios and Nikolaos Kapsimalis.

Always alongside her husband, they served their community proudly as food and beverage providers at their restaurants, including Georgio’s, Papa Geo’s, Geo’s Sports Bar, Bellagio’s, American Pancake House, and Rebounds Bar and Grill. Their customers were always treated as family, with not only outstanding delicacies, but nourishment for the heart and soul. The duo shared in their customer’s triumphs with laughter and celebration, but also comforted beyond reproach in times of sorrow.

Visitation for Zoi Tsaliangos will be Friday, January 9, 2026, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway St., Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until services begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
