Village Of Mokena: Time To Water New Trees
With the arrival of hotter, drier weather, now is the time to begin watering new trees planted in parkways around your home.

MOKENA, IL — With the arrival of hotter, drier weather, now is the time to begin watering new trees planted in parkways around your home over the past year or so. During dry periods, new trees should be watered twice a week by taking a hose and letting it trickle 3-5 feet around the tree for 20 minutes.
This will apply water where it is needed most: to the new tree’s root system. Avoid watering the trunk or foliage of the tree.
In the event of significant rainfall, wait three days, then start the twice-a-week cycle of watering over again.

In the event of extreme heat and drought, you can water every other day; however, no matter what, you should not water your tree every day.
