Do A Good Deed Contest Winners Receive Awards

Sean Barry, a sophomore at , is this year’s winner of the “Do a Good Deed” contest presented by Dr. Kaz Zymantas of .  Barry won an iPad for his essay about a mission trip to West Virginia where he helped Nellie, a 90-year-old woman, rebuild her deck and stairs. 

The experience made him realize how fortunate he is living in Naperville.

“I have a roof over my head, food to eat and clothes to wear.  My house is in good shape and if something needs fixing, we have the resources to fix it.  I feel really lucky,” says Sean. He plans to return to on a mission trip next summer.

Zymantas believes no good deed should go un-rewarded and that rewarding a job well done actually prompts more good deeds.  That is why every year Premier Dental hosts the “DO A GOOD DEED” contest.  Anyone 18 years old and younger can submit an essay about the good deed they performed and what happened as a result.

“I think there is a focus on the negative things young people do today,” says Zymantas, “I wanted to highlight the youths that are doing good things and making a difference.”

The second place winner was Yasmine Tenouri.  She is 11 years old from Naperville. Yasmine was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation and a $25 gift card for visiting with her grandmother who has Alzheimer’s.  During her visits Yasmine plays piano for all of the residents, “…they smile, clap and even sing along.  It made me so happy to see them happy,” says Yasmine.

Third place winners were siblings Calum Gretz, Jack Gretz, and Elle Gretz  who collected “warm winter items” for the homeless in Chicago.  They were awarded a Certificate of Appreciation and a $25 gift card.  They insisted on not collecting their $25 gift card and preferred to donate it to .
