The would like to alert residents and local businesspeople that the City of Naperville will be conducting a fire drill for employees during the morning of Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Naperville Municipal Center at 400 S. Eagle St. The exact time of the drill is not being publicly announced, however, the City is notifying the public so that they are aware that this is only a training exercise as part of ongoing safety efforts.
The purpose of this fire drill is to prepare City staff should a real fire emergency occur in the Municipal Center. Staff members will be provided instruction as to where to safely exit the building and also where to meet outside with their departmental or divisional coworkers so accurate employee headcounts can be taken.
Although this exercise is directed at City staff, it is strongly recommended that all residents and businesses conduct their own fire drills so that primary and secondary building escape routes can be developed and learned. A full list of safety tips can be found in the City's Emergency Preparedness Guide, which is available on the City's website at www.naperville.il.us/emergencyprepguide.aspx.
