The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, , and Illinois Chamber of Commerce partner with Suburban Advocacy for Veterans Employment to host the “Hiring our Heroes” job fair Thursday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., at Tellabs in Naperville.
The event is part of the 100-city nationwide initiative the U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched this year to help veterans, guards, reservists and military spouses find jobs. More than 70 employers are committed to attend, including JPMorgan Chase & Co., Toys R Us, Sears Holdings Corp., Compass Group, CVS Caremark Corp., and Tellabs.
“By seeking the help of American companies, our hope is to create an environment in which thousands of military veterans and their spouses can find meaningful employment in their home states,” said Kevin Schmiegel, U.S. Chamber of Commerce vice president of veterans employment programs. “We believe this can only be achieved in cities and towns across the country, like Naperville, with the help of our extensive grassroots network and local chambers of commerce.”
NBC has been a strong partner for “Hiring our Heroes.” In addition to covering all 100 of the hiring fairs through their local affiliates, NBC is dedicating an entire year’s worth of programming to a new series, “Making a Difference on the Homefront.” The series, an extension of the award-winning “Nightly News With Brian Williams,” is an effort to shine a light on the issues affecting veterans and military families across the country.
