Homeowners to Discuss Epidemic of Addiction

Submitted by the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation

The (NAHC) October 15th meeting will focus on a problem that, if not addressed, will tear at the fabric of our community.  Saturday’s topic, “RAISING DRUG FREE KIDS - BEING PROACTIVE” – goes to the heart of the Confederation mission of neighbor helping neighbor as we shine the spotlight on this threat to our homes, families, and neighborhoods.

According to Confederation President, Dr. Bob Buckman, “At different levels there is awareness of drug abuse in our Naperville community. We also know that the problem will not go away. Fortunately, there is support within our community for the victims of drug abuse. If we all do our job of becoming aware of what the problem is and agree to act, as a community, there will be light at the end of the tunnel for the victims.”

For those who still do not believe it can happen here, Mark Thurow, Chief, EMS, of the Naperville Fire Department along with a representative of the Naperville Police Department will present the front line view that our first responders regularly encounter in the community.

Buckman concluded, “While typically Confederation meetings address property issues, the neighborhood issues associated with not understanding the overall impacts of drug abuse among our teens, can, if unchecked, impact the health and well-being of everyone in the community.”

The meeting will be held on Saturday morning, October 15th beginning at 8:30 AM in meeting rooms B&C of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle Street. The program is scheduled to run from 8:30 until 10:00 AM with attendees welcome to come at 8:00 AM for coffee and networking.
