Applications Open For Citizen Police Academy In Naperville
The 10-week course, which teaches residents about police techniques and practices, kicks off March 5.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Applications are now open for the Citizen Police Academy in Naperville. The 10-week course, which teaches residents the ins and outs of police techniques, will begin March 5.
A total of thirty applicants will be chosen for the Citizen Police Academy, which includes informative lectures and interactive demonstrations led by members of the Naperville Police Department. Topics of study include investigations, forensics, patrol work and more.
“Participants are usually surprised by how much they don’t know about our department, the services we provide, and what actually goes into serving and protecting a community,” Police Chief Jason Arres said in a news release.

Arres added, “We pull back the curtain, and we explain what we do, how we do it, and even let participants try their hands at it. It’s very eye-opening for people, and I have yet to hear someone say they didn’t enjoy the experience.”
The weekly classes are held on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and take place at Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave.
