Barnes & Noble Plans To Reopen In New Location In Naperville

The bookseller closed its former Naperville store at 47 E. Chicago Ave. in early 2024.

NAPERVILLE, IL — An old favorite of shoppers is downtown Naperville is set to come back, but this time it'll be in a different location. Barnes & Noble, which occupied the space at 45 E. Chicago Ave. for 25 years, will reopen at 9 W. Jackson Ave.

The Downtown Naperville Alliance shared the news via its Facebook page Thursday, touting it among other announcements of "big, exciting news." The new 12,000 square foot store, which will include a café, aims should be open by April 2025, Janine Flanigan, VP, Store Planning & Design, told Patch.

In December 2023, Barnes & Noble announced that its Naperville store would close, amid plans to relocate to Oswego. The Oswego store opened in the Prairie Market Shopping Center in June 2024.

Flanigan said, "We closed our doors at the old location when our lease expired and have been in search of a new location. This location allows us to come back to the Naperville community, and we could not be more excited."

Barnes & Noble also reopened stores in Chicago in 2024, in Lincoln Park and Wicker Park.
