Teen Dies After Collapsing At Naperville Choir Event, Cause Of Death Unknown
Leyden High School senior Daniel Moshi died at a local hospital after he collapsed at a choir event at Naperville North High School Friday.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Local authorities are continuing to look into the death of a 17-year-old high school student who collapsed and died at a choir event at Naperville North High School on Friday night.
DuPage County coroner Richard Jorgensen identified the teen as Daniel Moshi of Franklin Park, a senior at Leyden District 212 High School. Fire officials said Moshi collapsed at the event and was taken to Edward Medical Center, where he later died.
Jorgensen has not yet announced the cause of death, and officials have not released many details about the incident. Fire officials arrived at the school at 6:18 p.m. on Friday after responding to the report of an unconscious person and immediately began performing CPR before the teen was taken to the hospital.

Moshi's family told NBC Chicago that the teen was in rehearsals and was going through his solo when he collapsed.
"They told us that while he was doing his solo, he just passed out," the boy's mother, Karolin Moshi told NBC Chicago. "He collapsed and we don't know anything else."

His father said that the family was alerted of "an incident" by Moshi's choir teacher after he collapsed, NBC Chicago reported on Tuesday.
Jorgensen said in an email to Patch on Tuesday that he does not expect the cause of death to be determined for several weeks.
“This loss impacts our entire Leyden community,” District 212 spokeswoman Karen Geddeis said in a statement released on Monday. “Our students and staff are grieving, and our focus is on their wellbeing. We encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out to a trusted adult and our Student Services department is available to provide support. We are also asking everyone to look after each other during this difficult time.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
The Illinois chapter of the American Choir Directors Association called Moshi a “beautiful person who loved to sing.”
“Our condolences to his family, the students, the directors, and to... students in the Leyden district,” Laura Coster, the president of the IL-American Choral Directors Association wrote in a statement on Facebook.
