Cell Phone Service Should Improve for Verizon Customers

New cell towers in Naperville and Plainfield expected to improve service.

Can you hear me now? If you are on the south side of Naperville and using Verizon, the answer should be: loud and clear.

Verizon Wireless users in Naperville and Plainfield will have better access to the carrier now that it has activated two new cell sites, according to Verizon Wireless.

Voice and data access should improve in from 83rd Street in the north, to Plainfield Road in the east, to Boughton Road in the south and to 248th Avenue in the west. And, in Plainfield from 135th Street in the north, to Naperville Road in the east, to Fraser Road in the south and to Steiner Road in the west.

“Our customers rely on their wireless devices for virtually all of their communication needs,” T.J. Fox, president, Illinois/Wisconsin Region, Verizon Wireless said in a news release. “Ten years ago, ensuring they could make clear calls and stay connected was our top priority. That still is and always will be important. Additionally though, we closely monitor all other network usage, such as Internet browsing and downloading apps or music, and make improvements accordingly, so that our customers’ experience on our network is seamless regardless of how they want to use their phone.”

The new cell towers are also equipped with permanent backup generations in the case of an emergency, Verizon said.

Verizon also continues to upgrade its network, including launching its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, which is currently available in 117 metropolitan areas, the company said.

The carrier has invested more than $65 billion since it was formed and, according to the company, since 2000, has invested more than $1.6 billion on improvements to its wireless network in Illinois.
