DeLance and the juvenile were taken into custody shortly after, and the juvenile was later released. K-9s were used to help officers find Lopez-Bey, who is accused of hiding in a nearby shed. Police reported finding a gun in a backyard where Lopez-Bey had been reportedly spotted.

DeLance will also appear in court Jan. 13.

“The apprehension of the defendants in this matter is a testament to how seriously law enforcement in DuPage County takes their responsibility,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin added, “It is alleged that Mr. Lopez-Bey climbed over an eight-foot-tall fence in an attempt to escape. Not to be deterred, Naperville police immediately deployed a drone and with the assistance of an Aurora K-9 officer, Mr. Lopez-Bey was found hiding in a shed and taken into custody a short time later. I thank the Naperville Police Department for their work on this case and for their ongoing efforts in keeping our neighborhoods safe."
