This Chicago Suburb Named Best For Health In U.S.: Report

A Chicago suburban topped Livability's recent roundup of the Best Places to Live for Health in the United States.

ILLINOIS— One Chicago suburb recently snagged the top spot for healthy living on Livability's 2025 roundup of Best Places to Live. The study evaluated small and mid-sized cities throughout the United States, ranking Naperville #1 in the nation for health.

Naperville beat out Sugar Land Texas, Columbia Maryland, Flower Mound, Texas and Carmel Indiana for the top spot. Evanston was ranked as the sixth city in the nation for health.

Livability's study gave Naperville a score of 91 out of 100, praising the city's hospital and health care facilities, along with its "city-wide emphasis on being active." The study went on to laud the Naperville Riverwalk, the city's many activities and amenities, and its proximity to Chicago.

Per Livability, "Mix that sense of community with diverse restaurants, a vibrant arts scene, family-friendly activities and lively nightlife, and you can see why people want to call Naperville home."

Naperville also ranked third in the nation for education and third for safety.

For this study, Livability used data from Applied Geographic Solutions to evaluate cities with populations of no more than 500,000 people and with a median home value of no more than $500,000.
