City Contractor Killed In Train Crash Removing Snow At Naperville Station
The equipment the man was operating was hit by a freight train, causing him to suffer fatal injuries, authorities said.
NAPERVILLE, IL — A city contractor was killed in a train crash Monday evening while working at the Naperville train station, according to the city manager.
The man was operating snow removal equipment on the station’s south platform in the 100 block of East Fourth Avenue when the equipment was hit by an eastbound freight train, City Manager Doug Krieger said in a prepared statement.
“This is a profound tragedy, and on behalf of the City of Naperville, I extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends,” Krieger said in the statement. “Our employees and contractors deliver vital services to the community daily, and their safety is of paramount importance to us. The loss of life in this manner is heartbreaking.”

The Metra Police Department is investigating the incident, according to Krieger.
