Driver Busted Going 132 Mph On Route 59 In Naperville: Police

Another driver was caught traveling 110 mph on the same road less than an hour later, police said.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Two drivers were arrested traveling over 100 mph within an hour of each other Saturday night on Route 59 in Naperville, according to police.

Around 10:30 p.m., an officer caught an 18-year-old man driving 132 mph in a 45 mph zone on the southbound highway near English Rows Avenue, police said. Roughly 45 minutes later, a 21-year-old man was caught driving 110 mph in a 45 mph zone northbound near Beebe Drive, according to police.

Both were charged with driving 35 mph or more above the speed limit, and one was charged with street racing, with police following up on a second vehicle involved in that incident, authorities said. The other arrested driver was charged with reckless driving, according to police.

“While not all traffic infractions are this reckless, we do see a lot of dangerous driving behaviors out there,” the Naperville Police Department said in a Facebook post Tuesday.

Police urged drivers to slow down, drive sober, avoid distractions, obey traffic signals, and talk to teens and young adults about safe driving.
