DuPage County Public Affairs Program Launched

DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference made the announcement Friday.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A public affairs program has been launched that aims to inform residents about local and state legislation. The online show will feature interviews with mayors and managers of governments within DuPage county explaining the impact of policies set in Springfield and local municipalities. It will be available through social media and public access television.

Issues at Hand was started by the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, or DMMC— a council of 33 municipalities. The announcement was made Friday by Addison Mayor Richard Veenstra, who also serves as DMMC's president.

The first 15-minute episode features Veenstra, Mayor Steve Chirico of Naperville and David Brummel of Warrnville discussing property taxes. The press release did not say how frequently new episodes will be released.

“At DMMC, we’ve made it a top priority to keep our residents informed,” Veenstra said. “Issues at Hand provides a forum that moves beyond sound bites to address, discuss and explain the complex challenges and issues facing municipalities across DuPage County.”

Veenstra pledged to protect local tax dollars as the state attempts to regain its financial footing, according to the release. His goal is to teach residents about legislation that could affect taxpayers.
