Father's Day: Ideas for Honoring Dad

Whether enjoying a bottle of beer, some Italian food or a cup of coffee, we have some ideas for celebrating dad on his special day.

Some Dads love to fire up the grill anytime, Father’s Day or not. Whether your Dad loves to celebrate or would prefer to spend hours in the man cave, Sunday is Father’s Day and he deserves some recognition.

How will you celebrate with dad? We have a few ideas for you.

Beer is Good Food

Why not consider taking dad to one of the newest places in Naperville to enjoy a nice cold beer. World of Beer is open on Naperville’s north side, 1727 Freedom Drive. The establishment, which has an extensive collection of beers, will be holding a Father’s Day celebration. Can’t get there Sunday? Buy dad a six-pack.

A Bottle of White, A Bottle of Red

Maybe dad isn’t into hops and barley and prefers something that has legs, like wine. If your father enjoys a nice glass of wine, why not head over to Cooper’s Hawk, right near World of Beer. Not only can you order some wine, you can share a meal and some conversation. Don’t forget to tell him what a great dad he’s been.

Fire Up the Grill

Let dad sit this one out and do the work for him. Give him a lounge chair, a drink and some time to relax. Taste of Home offers some recipes dad will enjoy, such as a Jalapeño Ribs Recipe, which has a spicy rub that combines the sweet brown sugar and spicy jalapeno peppers in the sauce. Or, maybe try grilling a pizza. This Grilled Barbeque Chicken Pizza Recipe uses a refrigerated pizza crust.

Francesca’s restaurants will be honoring fathers with a special prix fixe menu, which includes choices of lobster-filled pasta or a New York strip steak. The menu is $28 all weekend long. So, if you can’t take dad out on Sunday, you have other options to say you care.

Have a Catch with Dad

The Kane County Cougars will host a Father’s Day picnic on Sunday. You can enjoy an all you can eat picnic and all those in attendance will get the chance to play catch on the field. Nancy Faust, the White Sox organist will also be performing during the game.

Caribou Coffee is offering a buy one get one beverage offer on Father’s Day. Patrons who show the official Father’s Day BOGO coupon (see the coupon with this story) – either printed or on their phone – and purchase a beverage at a participating Caribou Coffees will receive a free drink. Check out the details on the coupon.
