Pedestrian Fatally Hit By Freight Train Near Naperville

Wednesday night's pedestrian-train crash stalled Metra trains for more than two hours.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a freight train near Naperville Wednesday night, according to a social media post via Metra Burlington Northern Santa Fe.

Just before 10 p.m., Metra posted that a BNSF train set to arrive in Aurora at 8:51 p.m. would not move past Lisle. A train set to leave Aurora around at 9:05 p.m. was forced to leave from the Lisle station, per Metra's announcement.

A later BNSF train, scheduled to leave Union Station at 9:33 p.m. did not run in the wake of the crash. Train travel began to resume as scheduled around 11:30 p.m.
