Getaway Driver Helped Friend Shoplift Shorts, Bottled Energy Shots and a Package of Noodles: Cops

NAPERVILLE, IL - A Naperville man was driving under the influence when he acted as a getaway driver for a friend who allegedly shoplifted a pair of shorts, several bottled "energy shots" and a package of noodles from a Walmart store, Naperville police said.

Cameron W. Macleary, 20, was arrested March 8, 2016 and charged with two misdemeanor counts of retail theft. A friend, David M. Trotz,19, was charged with felony DUI.

It was the second shoplifting incident Macleary, also of Naperville, allegedly pulled off that day, police said.

The first occurred at 4 a.m. March 8, when Macleary allegedly stole two "value packs" of toothbrushes from a BP service station at 901 N. Washington St. on Naperville's north side, court records showed. The file did not indicate whether Trotz was in his company at the time.

Macleary and Trotz arrived at the Walmart SuperCenter, 2552 W. 75th St., about 40 minutes later, according to the court file. Trotz allegedly remained behind the wheel of his black 2001 Mitsubishi while Macleary went inside the store and stole a pair of Dickies shorts, four 5-hour Energy shots and a package of Ramen noodles, the file said.
