NAPERVILLE, IL — An Elgin man is accused of firing a gun on his ex-partner while she was parked in her car in Naperville, missing her "by millimeters," according to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

Rocky Ahmedyar, 35, of the 1100 block of Spring Creek Road, was charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated stalking and violation of an order of protection in connection with the June 17 incident.

Prosecutors say the woman had moved to Naperville after she and the couple's three children moved out of the home they had shared with Ahmedyar in Elgin. According to prosecutors, the woman was parked in the Naperville home's driveway around 3 a.m. on June 17 when Ahmedyar came up to the driver's side of the car with a Kimber 9mm handgun.

Ahmedyar is accused of threatening to shoot the woman if he did not talk to her. Prosecutors say Ahmedyar lowered the handgun after another car drove by, which prompted the woman to put the car in reverse.

Ahmedyar accused of approaching the car and firing at the woman. Prosecutors say the bullet went through the driver's side window and missed the woman "by millimeters."

According to prosecutors, Ahmedyar sent the woman several texts after she left, including ones that read, "“You watch your self [sic],” “But b**** I am not scared of your b**** a** I will f*** you up b****,” and “I hope you die one ay b**** because your [sic] a virus in the world.”

Ahmedyar was pulled over and arrested by Elgin Police while entering the driveway of his home. A K-9 unit was used by Naperville police to find the Kimber 9mm handgun.

“Domestic violence is not a private family matter, it is a serious crime that if left unchecked, can escalate causing serious physical harm to the victim, up to and including death,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin added, “While the victim in this case was forced to endure an extremely stressful situation allegedly at the hands of her husband, we are all extremely thankful that she was physically unharmed."

Ahmedyar is set to appear in court July 14.
