Guzman Y Gomez Seeks To Open Restaurant With Drive-Thru, Patio In Naperville

NAPERVILLE, IL — Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen (GyG) is hoping to bring a restaurant with outdoor dining and a drive-thru to Fox River Commons in Naperville. The city's planning and zoning commission will conduct a public hearing for the proposed development on July 16.

The 2,650 restaurant building would be located on a 1.18-acre parcel at 844 S. Rte. 59, which was formerly the site of Juicy-O Restaurant. The development would begin by demolishing the now-vacant two-story building.

Per the development petition, "GyG believes that redeveloping this parcel of land and half of this new redeveloped area will assist in helping to revitalize this shopping center and improve the overall look, aesthetics and appearance of this section of Route 59 by building a fresh new structure and increasing the amount and variety of landscape materials across the property, helping this overall commercial area of Naperville to con nue to be successful into the future."

As proposed, the restaurant's outdoor patio would seat 24 diners.

The development petition said, "This fresh new fast casual Mexican Restaurant will brighten a center that needs new growth and revitalization."

The public hearing will be held on July 16 at 7 p.m. at Naperville Municipal Center.
