I-55 Lane Closure Today in Will County
The expressway will be limited to one lane to repair a hole in the deck of a bridge

A portion of southbound Interstate 55 will be reduced from two lanes to one lane in Will County today. The lane closure will only be on a section of the expressway south of Interstate 80, four miles south of Channahon, and it is scheduled to last from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) made the announcement in a press release Tuesday. The work is to repair a hole in the bridge that passes over a pair of railroad tracks.
IDOT recommends that I-55 southbound traffic take I-80 west to Illinois 47 south to pick up I-55 again in Dwight. Motorists can expect delays, and IDOT is urging all drivers to "pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment."
