Internship Pays Off For North Central College Anthropology Student

Amanda Marolf spent the summer interning at The Field Museum, which led to her receiving a scholarship.

Anthropology student Amanda Marolf’s summer internship turned into a scholarship score.

Marolf, a student, interned over the summer at The Field Museum and will continue the internship in the fall.

She was awarded the college’s 2011 Gloria Levitt Scholarship for Anthropology. She received the $1,000 scholarship for her work at the museum over the summer, according to a news release from .

“Amanda has worked extremely hard for me over the summer and will continue to work here two days a week during the fall semester,” Gloria E. Levitt, associate registrar in The Field Museum’s Department of Anthropology said in a news release.

Levitt is a 2003 alumna of who established the scholarship, according to the college. She also was an intern at the museum before graduating from the college and being hired to work at The Field Museum full-time.

Interns at the museum learned the accession process, which teaches students how to acquire, label and store new items, a skill that is integral to any museum professional’s job.
