Man Charged with Arson After Explosive Device Detonated: Police

A Naperville man was arrested Thursday and charged in connection with setting off an explosive device in front of a Naperville home last September, police said.

Mark A. Hoen, 22, of the 400 block of Prairie Knoll Dr., was arrested on Thursday and charged with criminal damage to property and residential arson, a Class 1 felony, according to the Naperville Police Department.

The incident occurred on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at 3:35 a.m. after an explosive was detonated between the front door and storm door of a home in the 300 block of Prairie Knoll Drive, according to police.

The explosion caused "significant damage to the door and the front of the house," police said. The homeowners were inside the house asleep at the time of the explosion and were exposed to "potential serious injuries," police added.

After an investigation, Hoen was taken into custody Thursday. His bail is $10,000.

Hoen's court date is unknown at this time.
