Missing Manhole Covers, Thieves Sought

Some weighty thefts have been taking place around Naperville lately. Manhole covers seem to be disappearing around town and are seeking leads.
The manhole covers, stamped with the words “sanitary sewer” or “water” weigh about 50 pounds and belong to the , according to the . The thefts took place between mid- and late August in the southwest section of Naperville in subdivisions that are under construction, police said.
Since the manhole covers have been stolen from subdivisions that are under construction, police are asking walkers and drivers who may be frequenting these areas to be cautious to avoid injury.
