NAPERVILLE, IL — A 28-year-old Aurora man is dead after his motorcycle crashed in Naperville early Sunday.

Police and firefighters were called to the intersection of Washington and School Streets just before 2 a.m. for a report of a crash. When they got to the scene, officers saw a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle "on its side with heavy damage," a news release said.

Emergency responders attempted to revive the unresponsive motorcycle driver, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say early investigations indicate the motorcyclist was driving north on Washington and went off the road near Douglas Avenue. They say it appears the motorcycle "slid on its side before both the operator and motorcycle struck a small retaining wall."

Crash investigators were at the scene until around 6:30 a.m. As of Sunday afternoon, the motorcyclists name had not been made public.
