Naperville Cops To Crack Down On Drunk Drivers For Thanksgiving

Police plan to be out in full force in Naperville as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches.

NAPERVILLE, IL — As Thanksgiving approaches, police in Naperville plan to increase patrols in an effort to crack down on those who are driving under the influence.

“Thanksgiving means more vehicles on the road – and an increased risk of crashes,” Naperville Police Sgt. Derek Zook said in a statement. “No matter how long or short your drive, remember to buckle up and make sure children are in a safe seat. By buckling up and making a plan for a sober ride home, you help everyone have a safe and happy holiday.”

Police recommend the following tips to help keep the roads safe this season:

  • Designate a sober driver
  • Hire a cab or use a rideshare service
  • Wear seatbelts
  • Call 911 to report unsafe driving

The safety campaign, part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" initiatives, kicked off Nov. 17 and will run through Nov. 27.
