Naperville Local Wins Big at World Series of Poker, But Misses Final Cut

Naperville resident Kyle Julius competed with poker players from 82 different countries at the annual series in Las Vegas this month.

After playing among poker players from around the world, Naperville resident Kyle Julius walked away with more than $680,000 in prize money during the 2012 World Series of Poker this month.

The main event of the World Series of Poker has been winnowed down from 6,598 players to a final table of nine people. Julius was competing for one of those spots in the main event, which takes place in October.

Julius' biggest cash happened on July 2 at event 50 of the World Series when he won $589,687 after placing second in a game of No Limit Hold'em. He won $28,530 during his final game of the series on Monday, which was also No Limit Hold'em with a $10,000 buy-in, according to World Series of Poker.

The Naperville resident said he learned the game of poker from his brother and his favorite game to play is No Limit Hold'em, according to PokerNews.com

The World Series of Poker is a 61-game tournament, which takes place annually in Las Vegas, Nevada.
