Naperville, IL — Back-to-school season brings a mix of excitement and nerves — for students, parents and staff alike. Thankfully, Naperville is home to everyday school heroes who help make the transition smoother and the school year a little brighter.

From teachers and tutors to bus drivers, cafeteria staff, crossing guards and more, these caring individuals bring steady support and positivity to our schools. To recognize their many contributions — big and small — Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to salute the unsung heroes of back-to-school.

Please describe why this individual is a hero at your school.

Every day Mr. Carius brings his high energy to students, staff, and parents. He picks up everyone that needs a helping hand. Plays sports with all the students during recess. He is always looking to bring a positive attitude to his community.

How do you know the school hero you’re nominating?

I work with him.

What should your community know about this person?

He takes the time to listen to all of his students and staff. He is a ball of energy that is inspiring to the people around him. He finds time to inspire his students academically but also takes time to play games with all of the students on the playground. In the hallway he will make it his agenda to make sure you are having a good day. If it seems you are having a rough time he will authentically stop to find out what is going on.
