Naperville Summer Solstice Social At McDonald Farm: June 21

Summer Solstice Social highlights solar energy at McDonald Farm June 21.

NAPERVILLE, IL – The Conservation Foundation and the Illinois Solar Energy Association are co-sponsoring a Summer Solstice Social Wednesday, June 21 from 6:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. at McDonald Farm in Naperville.

The social is a celebration of the longest day of the year and will highlight new technologies at the farm as renewable resources for solar energy. There will be a presentation on solar energy and a tour of the barn’s solar panels and other eco-friendly features on the farm, such as the wind turbine that are part of the 60-acre headquarters.

Guests will then enjoy refreshments while watching the sunset which marks the summer solstice: the beginning of the Earth’s rotation from its furthest point from the equator, onward toward the winter solstice when daylight is the shortest before the cycle continues again.
