One family-owned store topped Advanced Funds Network's roundup, with customers praising the shop's "cozy atmosphere" and staff.

ILLINOIS — According to a recent study that polled Illinois residents, the state's most popular small business has a "cozy atmosphere" they would drive more than an hour to enjoy. The poll, conducted by Advance Funds Network, ranked Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville at the top of its list.

The family-owned bookstore, which also has a location in Downers Grove, beat out Chicago's Violet Hour and Optimo Hats, per the study.

According to Advance Funds Network, Anderson's Bookshop is "[a] family-owned indie bookstore that’s hosted every big author you can name.

They praised Anderson's as a "cornerstone for Illinois readers who’ve been known to drive in from hours away for signings."

To garner its list of the most popular small businesses, Advance Funds Network polled more than 3,000 people to inquire about the businesses they'd be willing to drive over an hour to get to.

In its methodology description for this roundup, Advance Funds Network writes, "Respondents are carefully chosen from a geographically representative online panel of double opt-in members. This selection is further tailored to meet the precise criteria required for each unique survey. Throughout the survey, we designed questions to carefully screen and authenticate respondents, guaranteeing the alignment of the survey with the ideal participants."
