NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville resident and Park District Commissioner Rich Janor believes that the 41stDistrict deserves better representation, which led him to announce his candidacy for Illinois State Representative.

Janor launched his campaign on Tuesday from Naperville, where he has served as the Park District President three times after joining the board in 2011. He is trying to unseat incumbent Janet Yang Rohr, who has made a series of bad decisions while serving the district, according to Janor's campaign.

Janor replaces Naperville City Councilwoman Jennifer Bruzan Taylor on the ballot for State Representative. Bruzan Taylor announced earlier this month that she is stepping away from the race to focus on her family. Bruzan Taylor ran unopposed in the Republican primary and will now be replaced by Janor on the ballot to face Yang Rohr in November’s general election.

“High taxes, out-of-control crime, and increasing cost of living are driving families and jobs out of Illinois,” Janor said in a news release issued Tuesday after he made his official announcement in Naperville. “I’m running for State Representative to restore common sense leadership, to strengthen our economy, and ensure Illinois is a safe, affordable place to live. Unfortunately, Janet Yang Rohr has led the charge on policies hurting our communities. We need a change.”

Janor cites improving public safety with proper funding to first responders, lowering property taxes, and supporting local control as his top priorities for Illinois. His platform, Ranor said, “sets up a clear choice for voters” in November.

Janor, who is currently on the ballot for the DuPage County Board, said on Tuesday that he will step away from that race to focus on his run for State Representative. County GOP officials said that another Republican will be chosen to try to land the District 5 seat on the county board.

“In critical votes where Janet Yang Rohr could have stood up for our families, she chose to make our communities less safe and more expensive,” he said. “I will work to support law enforcement professionals and lower property taxes.”

Janor received his Bachelor’s degree with Cum Laude honors from the University of Notre Dame. Ranor and his wife Rhonda live in Naperville and have three school-aged children: Archer, Brooklyn, and Caiden.

Under Ranor's leadership. his campaign said the Park District has maintained a AAA Bond Rating and has received numerous awards for exemplary financial management. Janor has also been a successful high school varsity baseball coach in Illinois for 20 seasons and is a small business owner and active community volunteer.
