The Naperville Park District's Fort Hill Activity Center opens this month. Read on to learn what's on the grand opening docket!
Construction on Naperville's newest rec center is wrapping up, with a fast-approaching opening date set for later this month.
Work on the Naperville Park District's Fort Hill Activity Center, 20 Fort Hill Drive, is on pace for an Aug. 27 grand opening celebration. Event attendees will be able to join fitness classes, take tours, sample food and refreshments, access the indoor track, and much more, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The center will include a gymnasium space for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and other activities; a gymnastics room; an indoor walking/running track; multi-purpose rooms; dance/group exercise studios; a fitness space; an indoor playground; and a café. It is adjacent to Players Indoor Sports Center and the city of Naperville’s Recycling Drop-Off Center.

“We’re very excited ...” said the district's recreation director, Brad Wilson. “The activity center will be a great addition to the community, offering a wide range of year-round indoor recreation activities for (people of) all ages and abilities.”
The center will serve as a hub for many Naperville Park District programs including gymnastics, dance, basketball and group fitness classes. The district's Autumn Program Guide released last week includes registration information.

"Parents dropping off children for programs at the activity center will find attractive, spacious seating areas and viewing windows (that allow them) to catch a glimpse of their children’s activities," said a park district update. "They will be able to enjoy a cup of coffee or a snack in the café, use wifi to access mobile devices, (access) the walk/jog track or engage in a fitness program in the facility."
District officials have said the facility will cover its own expenses through membership and/or daily fees required to access the onsite fitness area, open gyms, child care center and, during peak times, indoor track. Residents won't have to pay to register for programs, access the track outside of its busiest hours or participate in community events, such as the upcoming grand opening celebration.
Members will be able to use the center's cardio equipment, free weights, indoor track and open gym. They can also join fitness classes and will receive discounts on child care, personal training and premier workout sessions.
