Police Blotter: Stolen Ladders and Identity Theft

Identity theft

Hector Rodriguez, 24, of the 2400 block of West 50th Street, Chicago, was arrested at 2:50 p.m. at the , 1350 Aurora Avenue, officers said. He was charged on an original warrant for identity theft. His bail was $5,000.

Criminal damage

  • A 70-year-old man in the 1500 block of Swallow Street reported that the rear window of a van was broken between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 1:12 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
  • A 55-year-old man in the 1100 block of Standish Court reported that someone damaged his mailbox Sunday, police said.

Theft

  • A 28-year-old man in the 1800 block of Ferry Road reported he lost his iPhone 4 in a work cafeteria Monday, and it was not turned in so he presumed it was stolen, police said.
  • A resident in the 1800 block of South Washington Street reported that an 8-foot ladder was stolen at 12:30 p.m., police said. The resident said the ladder may have been taken by the driver of a white construction truck with a ladder rack on top.
  • A 61-year-old man in the 900 block of Piedmont Circle reported that between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. someone stole a ladder from his home.

Hit and run

A witness reported that a driver at Naper Boulevard and Alton Court was following too closely and when the driver applied the brakes, they lost control and hit a fence, police said. The driver fled the scene, but a witness provided a license plate number and the driver was cited for hit and run. The driver told police she had a panic attack because she was running late to pick up a child and when another driver applied the brakes, she lost control and jumped a curb and drove through a wooden fence.
