Squad Car T-Boned Responding to Emergency Thursday Afternoon

The Naperville Police officer entered the intersection of River Road and Ogden Avenue with lights flashing and sirens blaring when he was hit.

A Naperville Police officer who was responding to an emergency call with his patrol car's lights flashing and sirens blaring was T-boned on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Ogden Avenue and River Road.

The accident occurred at about 1:40 p.m., according to the . The officer was heading to an emergency call and was driving southbound on River Road in a police car, with his lights and siren in use when he was hit by Mary C. Coogan, 69, of Westchester, police said. Coogan was driving a 2003 Mercury Marquis westbound on Ogden Avenue approaching River Road when the accident occured.

Coogan and the police officer were taken to l for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The accident remains under investigation and no citations were issued, according to police. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 630-305-5285.
