Telemarketer Using Naperville Call Center Sued
It wasn't annoying calls, but the alleged recording of conversations that spurred this lawsuit.

Five California residents filed a lawsuit in Chicago federal court against a company who they say recorded their conversations without consent. The suit was filed in Illinois because the company's call center is in Naperville.
The lawsuit claims that International Payment Services LLC used “caller ID spoofing” to make small business owners think they were talking to local customers or existing vendors. The company allegedly used this ruse to sell financial services.
The suit also claims that the conversations, in which sensitive financial information was discussed, were recorded. Conversations in California and Illinois can't be legally recorded unless everyone who is speaking consents.
