Utility Grants Available To Help Naperville Residents, Businesses

The temporary utility assistance is available to eligible residents and small business owners impacted by coronavirus.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Grants are now available to help Naperville residents and small businesses with their utility payments, thanks to a new program from the City of Naperville and Loaves and Fishes. Eligible residents may get a grant of up to $300 and eligible small business owners can get a grant of up to $1,500 if they have been impacted financially by the coronavirus pandemic.

To be eligible for up to $300 in utility payment aid for residents, applicants must:

  • Be a resident of the City of Naperville and have an active utility account
  • Demonstrate a need for financial assistance

Loaves and Fishes will apply grant funds to past due accounts for eligible residents, but grants cannot be used for future balances. Residents must pay remaining balances in full or contact the City of Naperville to request a payment plan.

To apply for a grant, residents must call Loaves and Fishes at 630-355-3663 for emergency assistance, press 4 and leave a message. Calls will be returned within three to five business days.

Small business owners are eligible for grants of up to $1,500 if they meet the following requirements:

  • Be located within City of Naperville and have an active utility account
  • Be open for business before Jan. 1, 2020
  • Be currently open for business and not in bankruptcy
  • Be authorized to conduct business in City of Naperville, with all necessary permits and licenses, and be compliant with city regulations
  • Have 75 or fewer full time employees
  • Have annual revenue of $4 million or less in 2019
