Dubbed the Great American Solar Eclipse, the April 8 celestial event will be the most visible and longest solar eclipse Illinoisans have seen in the past 100 years. The last visible solar eclipse was in 2017.
Residents who live in and around Chicago are expected to witness as much as 95 percent eclipse totality. Inclement weather and heavy clouds will cancel Whalon Lake's Solar-bration, so be sure to check the sky...and the event page...before you head out.
