Another Bails: Third Lincoln-Way Board Member Gives Up in Resignation

Yet another Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 board member has abandoned his post.

A local school administrator whose resignation was effective Thursday and publicly announced on Friday is officially the third district board member to fly the coop this academic year.

Longtime Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 board member Arvid Johnson was first appointed in 2008 to replace former board member James Fagan, according to a Chicago Tribune report. His decision could perpetuate existing district criticism from residents who have voiced concerns about an ongoing financial crisis.

"We are thankful for Arvid's commitment to the district over the past seven years," School Board President Dee Molinare said in a vacancy notice posted Friday on the district’s website. "We wish him the best."

The Chicago Tribune notes that Johnson has so far been absent from four of of this year’s seven meetings and in the past, earned the highest truancy on record when he attended just one-third of a year’s board meetings — seven out of 21.

The now-public notice encourages interested parties to throw their hat in the ring for the position available in Johnson's wake. It pinpoints May 9 as the application deadline.

Other resignations this year include those of Kevin Molloy, former school board president, and Christopher McFadden, former board member.

Johnson currently serves as the president of the University of St. Francis, the Tribune article says.
