UPDATE: Police Seeking Men Who Attacked Teens on Trail
Two 15-year-old New Lenox girls were beaten on the Old Plank Trail late last month. The Will County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the incident.

Following a late night attack of two 15-year-old girls June 28 on Old Plank Trail, the continues to investigate the incident.
According to Sheriff's Department Spokesperson Kathy Hoffmeyer, the two New Lenox girls were out a half hour past 11 p.m. curfew when the incident occurred near Cedar Road and Joliet Highway.

The two were attacked about 11:30 p.m. while walking a short distance along the trail. They were en route to one of the girls homes located just off the trail when three young men approached them and demanded their purses and cell phones.
After the girls refused they were pushed to the ground, choked and punched in the face, police said. One of the men ripped the earrings out of one of the girl's ears. Both teens were taken to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released.

Hoffmeyer said the attackers fled on foot. The police are following up on some leads. The only description police had of the men was that they were black and wearing hoodies. Hoffmeyer said police weren't provided with a better description.
Attacks along the trail are uncommon, Hoffmeyer said.
Both girls had their cell phones stolen as well as their purses. One of the girls said she had $65 in her purse, and the other had $5.
